Princeton Mortgage, a New Jersey non-bank lender whose biggest state is Pennsylvania, is a mid-sized home-purchase lender that puts about twice as much of its lending into loans for veterans as similar lenders do.
Loans guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) made up 12.3% of its lending in 2025, up from 7.9%. Similar lenders (independent non-bank lenders making between half and twice as many loans) put 5.8% of their loans into them. On most other measures, from loan size to lending in poorer neighborhoods, it sits near the middle of that group.
Purchases made up 83.2% of its loans and refinances 13.2%, with a little home-improvement lending. Its typical loan rose from $275,000 to $325,000, the same as at similar lenders.
Loans fell 8% to 810, while similar lenders grew 2% and the whole market 10%. It made 3,934 loans in 2021 and 1,469 in 2019; it filed no report for 2020. The record does not say why its lending has fallen.
It has lent in Philadelphia since 2002 and ranks 121 of 784 lenders there. Since 2019 it has added markets in the South. Its shares in Knoxville and Crestview-Fort Walton Beach-Destin rose from 0.1% to 0.2%, and it entered Savannah in 2025.
