JMAC Lending, a Santa Ana mortgage company lending in 34 states, grew 78% in 2025, far faster than similar lenders, and lends more in poorer and majority-minority neighborhoods than most of them.
Its loans rose from 3,000 to 5,353. Similar lenders, independent non-bank lenders making between half and twice as many loans, grew 12%, and the whole market 10%. Only about one in ten peers grew faster. It made 8,022 loans in 2020 and only 1,333 in 2023; the record does not say why.
In 2020, 97.7% of its loans were conventional. In 2025 loans insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) made up 26.0%, close to peers' 24.7%. Purchases were 76.5% of its lending. Its typical loan, $385,000, was larger than at about four in five peers.
It made 23.1% of its loans in low- and moderate-income (LMI) neighborhoods and 41.4% in majority-minority ones, against 19.4% and 24.6% at peers. Both shares were higher than at about four in five of them. Its share of LMI borrowers, 19.3%, was lower than peers' 28.2%; its larger loans are a possible reason.
It lent in 232 metros. In Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario, led by United Wholesale Mortgage and Rocket Mortgage, it ranked 47 of 707 lenders, with a share up to 0.4% from 0.3%. In 2025 it made its first loans in Las Cruces, Grand Rapids and rural Wisconsin.
