Lending to modest earners
Low- and moderate-income (LMI) borrowers took 51.8% of its loans, against 27.8% at similar lenders (credit unions making between half and twice as many loans). Five years before, the figure was 31.5%. LMI neighborhoods took 27.0%, higher than at about nine in ten peers. Majority-minority neighborhoods took only 1.8%, against 11.2%, which may reflect the non-metro and smaller Michigan markets it serves.
