Fewer loans, more dollars
Originations fell 8% to 3,877, while similar lenders (credit unions making between half and twice as many loans) grew 9% and the whole market 10%; about nine in ten similar lenders grew faster. Yet the dollars lent rose from $950.9 million to $1.02 billion, as the typical loan rose from $135,000 to $155,000, possibly a turn towards larger loans.
