Home Mortgage Alliance Corporation (HMAC), a Santa Ana non-bank lending in 40 states, makes far more of its loans in majority-minority neighborhoods than similar lenders do.
The firm made 1,963 loans in 2025 across 178 metros, close to the 1,846 of a typical similar lender (an independent non-bank making between half and twice as many loans). That is roughly three times its 625 loans of 2018. It filed no report for 2020 or 2022; those are gaps in the record, not years without lending.
Majority-minority neighborhoods took 56.6% of its loans, against 25.3% at similar lenders, a higher share than at nine in ten of them. Poorer neighborhoods (low- and moderate-income, or LMI, tracts) took 27.0%, against 19.1%. Both shares rose from 2024.
Refinances made up 46.2% of its loans, purchases the rest. Its share of loans insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), 21.9%, matched that of similar lenders. Loans guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) were scarce, at 0.9% against 6.3%, down from 3.0% in 2024.
Outside California it keeps adding markets. In Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington, which it entered in 2021, its share rose from 0.1% to 0.2%, enough to rank 104 of 688 lenders.
