Citizens Bank and Trust Company of Grainger County, a Tennessee bank that has lent around Knoxville since at least 1990, makes more of its loans in poorer neighborhoods than most similar lenders.
It has lent in Knoxville, Morristown and Kingsport-Bristol since at least 1990. Morristown is where it counts most: it ranks 34 of 268 lenders there, with an unchanged 0.6% of a $784.1M market. In Knoxville it ranks 131 of 599.
35.0% of its loans went to low- and moderate-income (LMI) neighborhoods, against 18.5% at similar lenders (state non-member banks making between half and twice as many loans), more than four in five of them.
