Our analysis, 2025
WNB Financial, a Winona, Minnesota, bank, grew its mortgage lending faster than most similar banks in 2025 and gained share in its home markets.
Its loans rose 19% to 182, against 4% at similar lenders, national banks making between half and twice as many loans, and 10% for the whole market. That is faster than about three in four of them.
In La Crosse-Onalaska, its largest market, it ranked 13 of 213 with 1.9% of lending, up from 1.5%. In Eau Claire its share rose from 0.3% to 0.7%, and in Rochester, MN from 0.3% to 0.4%.
It made 9.4% of its loans in low- and moderate-income (LMI) neighborhoods, against 15.6% at similar lenders, and 0.5% in majority-minority neighborhoods, against 7.3%. Its largest markets are La Crosse-Onalaska and non-metro Minnesota and Wisconsin, and the neighborhoods there may explain much of the gap.
All its loans were conventional, and most, 69.2%, were for home purchase. Its typical rate, 6.75%, was close to similar lenders' 6.73%. It still makes far fewer loans than the 673 of 2020.

Originated means the loan was made: applications denied, withdrawn or not accepted are not counted. Years with no HMDA report from this lender are left out: since 2020 a bank making fewer than 100 closed-end loans a year need not report. WNB Financial took 218 applications in 2025.
