Government-backed lending
Loans insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) made up 6.0% of its lending, and loans guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) 1.7%. Another 2.0% were guaranteed by the Department of Agriculture's Rural Housing Service (RHS), a higher share than at about nine in ten similar lenders, meaning state non-member banks making between half and twice as many loans. The typical peer makes none of these.
