The Mortgage Firm is a Florida home-purchase lender that held its volume flat in 2025 while similar lenders grew, and it is now pushing into new states.
Purchases made up 90.6% of its loans. Most were conventional, but loans guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) took 9.7%, against 6.7% at similar lenders, meaning independent non-bank lenders making between half and twice as many loans. Manufactured homes were 3.7% of its loans, against 1.2% at peers.
It made 3,270 loans, 1% fewer than in 2024, while peers grew 11% and the whole market 10%. That is slower than about seven in ten peers. In 2020 it made 13,945.
It ranks 5 of 573 in Palm Bay-Melbourne-Titusville, but its share there fell from 3.8% to 3.5%. In Pensacola-Ferry Pass-Brent it fell from 2.0% to 1.6%, and in Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford, its largest market, it ranks 25 of 854. With flat volume in growing markets, small share losses follow; it may also be spreading effort across a wider map. It now lends in 18 states and entered markets in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky in 2025.
It denied 2.7% of home-purchase applications, against 4.2% at peers, and 3.8% of refinance applications, against 6.8%. Both are lower than at about seven in ten peers.
