Standard Mortgage, a home-purchase lender rooted in Louisiana, grew faster than most similar lenders in 2025 and also buys loans from other lenders.
Its loans rose 16% to 492, while similar lenders (independent non-bank lenders making between half and twice as many loans) grew 2% and the whole market 10%. It grew faster than about three in four of them. That continues a recovery from 298 loans in 2023. It remains far below the 3,059 it made in 2020, and the data do not show why.
Home purchases made up 72.4% of its loans. Its typical loan, $255,000, was smaller than the $330,000 at similar lenders, below nearly four in five of them. Loans insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) made up 15.7%, a little below peers' 20.3%.
Besides its own lending, it bought 699 loans from other lenders in 2025, down from 1,668 in 2024. The typical similar lender bought none. Those purchases are left out of its origination count.
It has lent in New Orleans and Slidell-Mandeville-Covington since 1990. In Lafayette its share rose to 1.6% from 1.2%, ranking it 13 of 280 lenders. Its shares slipped in New Orleans, to 0.5% from 0.8%, and in Shreveport, to 0.9% from 1.2%. Rivals may have grown faster there, or it may have lent more elsewhere; the data do not say which.
