San Diego Funding, a California non-bank lender, makes loans, mostly to home buyers, more than twice the size of its peers', with a large share for veterans.
Its typical loan in 2025 was $695,000, against $265,000 at similar lenders, the 56 independent non-bank lenders making between half and twice as many loans. That was larger than at almost all of them. Home purchases made up 86.7% of its 60 loans, and refinances the rest.
