Priority Home Mortgage, an Austin lender, makes only home-purchase loans, and lends to veterans more, and at lower rates, than most similar lenders.
Every one of its 1,201 loans in 2025 was for a home purchase. Loans guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) made up 15.7%, against 6.3% at similar lenders (independent non-bank lenders making between half and twice as many loans), a higher share than at almost nine in ten of them.
Its typical rate was 5.62%, against 6.62% for similar lenders, among the lowest in the group. Only 0.1% of its loans were higher-priced (a rate well above the average for similar loans). It turned down 0.3% of home-purchase applications, against 3.4% at the typical peer.
Its typical loan was $445,000, against $315,000 at similar lenders. Low- and moderate-income borrowers took 9.3% of its loans, against 28.2%; larger loans for pricier homes might account for much of that. Majority-minority neighborhoods took 45.1%, more than at about four in five peers.
Loans fell 7% while similar lenders grew 3%. Its share of Austin slipped from 0.6% to 0.4%, perhaps as it opened new markets: it entered Portland, Salt Lake City and Provo in 2025. In Sherman-Denison its share doubled to 1.2%.
