Primis Bank, based in Virginia but busiest in Tennessee, grew faster in 2025 than any similar lender, lifting its loans by 30% to 2,858.
It first reported in 2020, with 426 loans, and has grown every year since. In 2025 its loans rose 30% while similar lenders (non-bank subsidiaries of banks making between a quarter and four times as many loans) fell 3% and the whole market grew 10%. It now lends in 41 states.
Nashville is its largest market. There it ranks 15 of 821 lenders, and its share rose from 0.8% to 1.4%. It also gained in Austin, to 0.3%. In Charlotte its share slipped to 0.3%, perhaps because it put its growth elsewhere.
Loans insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) made up 28.3% of its lending, against 18.3% at similar lenders. Manufactured homes took 9.3%, a higher share than at more than nine in ten of them. Purchases were 88.2% of its loans.
It turned down 2.8% of home-purchase applications, against 4.2% at the typical similar lender, and 6.6% of refinance applications, against 10.4%. Its typical rate, 6.50%, matched theirs.
