Bigger loans than its rivals
Its typical loan was $405,000, against $325,000 at similar lenders (independent non-bank lenders making between half and twice as many loans). Jumbo loans, larger than the conforming limit, made up 12.5% of its lending, against 1.1% at the typical peer, a higher share than at almost all of them. So a middling loan count produced $558.6 million, more than at most peers.
