NJ Lenders, a New Jersey mortgage company that lends mainly to home buyers, made 1,212 loans in 2025, less than half its total of a year earlier.
Its loans fell 61%, from 3,076 in 2024. Similar lenders, independent non-bank lenders making between half and twice as many loans, grew 3%, and the whole market grew 10%. That is a steeper fall than at almost any similar lender. It made 13,461 loans in 2021.
Home purchases made up 86.0% of its lending. Conventional loans were 86.1%, against 67.2% at similar lenders. Loans insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) were 12.1%, about half the peer share of 22.5%. Its typical loan, $455,000, was larger than at more than four in five similar lenders. Few of its loans, 0.4%, were higher-priced (a rate well above the average for similar loans), against 2.1% at its peers.
Low- and moderate-income (LMI) borrowers took 15.6% of its loans, against 28.3% at similar lenders. That is lower than about four in five of them. Its larger loans and light use of FHA lending may account for some of the gap.
Its share in Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton slipped to 0.1% from 0.2%, which may simply follow from its lower volume everywhere. Yet in 2025 it entered Toledo, Wenatchee-East Wenatchee and Birmingham, and it now lends in 20 states. In New York-Newark-Jersey City it ranked 58 of 802.
