Our analysis, 2025
Mypoint Credit Union, a San Diego refinance lender, made half again as many loans in 2025 as in 2024, faster growth than nearly nine in ten credit unions its size.
Refinances made up 92.8% of its loans and purchases only 6.0%. All were conventional, with no government backing. It lends only in California, in seven counties.
Its loans rose 54% to 349, faster than nearly nine in ten similar lenders (credit unions making between half and twice as many loans), which grew 7%. The dollar value rose from $69.5 million to $110.8 million. In San Diego, its home market since 1999, its share edged up to 0.3% and it ranks 68 of 639 lenders.
Its typical loan was $205,000, about twice the $105,000 at similar lenders, and 9.1% of its loans were jumbo (larger than the conforming limit), against 0.4%. Its typical rate fell to 5.74% from 6.74%, lower than at more than nine in ten peers.
Some 41.9% of its loans went to majority-minority neighborhoods, against 12.1% at similar lenders. But only 11.8% of its borrowers had low or moderate incomes, against 27.5%. Its larger loans are one possible reason; refinance borrowers with enough equity and income to qualify are another.
