A government-loan specialist
Loans insured by the Federal Housing Administration made up 40.2% of its total, against 17.3% for similar lenders (independent non-bank lenders making between half and twice as many loans). Loans guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs took 11.0%, and those guaranteed by the Department of Agriculture's Rural Housing Service 9.8%, a kind its peers barely made. Conventional loans were only 39.0% of its business.
