Legacy Mortgage, a Michigan lender that first reported in 2020, is now the third-largest mortgage lender in Flint and leans on government-backed loans to modest buyers.
It ranks 3 of 285 lenders by dollars lent in Flint, MI, behind only United Wholesale Mortgage and Rocket Mortgage. Its share there rose from 5.7% to 6.0%. In Saginaw it ranks 14 of 212, though its share there eased from 2.1% to 1.7%, perhaps as it spread into newer markets.
It made 143 loans in its first reported year, 2020, and 1,214 in 2025. Loans rose 10% last year, in line with the whole market and a little below the 16% typical of similar lenders (non-bank lenders making between half and twice as many loans).
Most of its peers lend only conventional loans.
