Homefield Credit Union, a Worcester-area lender with $172 million in assets, made 18 home loans in 2025, a fraction of its lending five years earlier.
The credit union made 211 loans in 2020 and 115 in 2021. Since then its yearly total has ranged from 29 to 55, and in 2025 it made 18, down from 29. The figures do not say why. A typical similar lender, meaning a credit union making between half and twice as many loans, made 24.
With 18 loans, its shares of lending to particular borrowers, neighborhoods or loan sizes rest on a handful of cases and say little. All of its loans were conventional. Purchases made up just over half, refinances a third and other purposes the rest.
