Genesis Capital, a Los Angeles lender that first reported in 2023, makes very large conventional loans: its typical loan, $1.1 million, is more than three times that of similar lenders.
Its typical loan was $1.1 million in 2025, against $305,000 at similar lenders (non-bank lenders making between half and twice as many loans). More than two in five of its loans (42.8%) were jumbo, larger than the conforming limit, against 3.5% for its peers. Every loan was conventional. Purchases made up 63.1% and refinances 30.9%.
It made 798 loans in its first reported year, 1,144 in 2024 and 1,286 in 2025. The rise in 2025, 12%, was a little below the 16% of similar lenders and above the whole market's 10%.
Its loans reach 32 states. In Los Angeles it ranks 19 of 757 lenders by dollars, a position its large loans help explain. In 2025 it entered Columbus, on the Alabama-Georgia line, Spokane and Honolulu.
It made 22.0% of its loans in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods, against 28.7% at similar lenders; about two in three peers had a higher share. Loans of this size may account for much of the gap. In majority-minority neighborhoods its share, 44.2%, was close to its peers' 41.2%.
