Our analysis, 2025
First Alliance Home Mortgage, a home-purchase lender from New Jersey, grew its loans by 30% in 2025, three times as fast as the market, and lends in 29 states.
It made 1,256 loans in 2025, up from 965. Similar lenders, non-bank lenders making between half and twice as many loans, grew by 10%, as did the whole market; its growth was faster than about four in five of them. The rebound has not undone the slump after 2021, when it made 2,197 loans, but it is well above the 659 of 2023.
Home purchases were 72.5% of its loans. Loans insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) made up 33.7%, against 14.7% at the typical similar lender, a higher share than at more than four in five of them. Its typical loan, $305,000, was a little smaller than its peers' $325,000.
Borrowers with low or moderate incomes (LMI) took 36.9% of its loans, against 24.5% at similar lenders. Loans in LMI neighborhoods were 28.5% of its total, against 20.2%. Both shares are higher than at about seven in ten peers or more, which fits a lender that leans on FHA loans.
It lends in 133 metro areas. It entered Baton Rouge, non-metro Michigan and non-metro Vermont in 2025. Of its main markets, Harrisburg-Carlisle is where it ranks highest: 29 of 396 lenders, with a steady 0.8% share.
