Conventus Lending, a San Francisco lender that first reported in 2023, grew by half in 2025 on large conventional loans and lent $2.52 billion, more than any similar lender.
Its loans rose from 986 in 2023 to 1,748 in 2024 and 2,642 in 2025. The 51% rise last year compares with 20% at similar lenders, non-bank lenders making between half and twice as many loans, and 10% for the whole market. It grew faster than more than three-quarters of them.
Its typical loan was $665,000, against $285,000 at peers, larger than at nearly all of them. Jumbo loans, those larger than the conforming limit, made up 23.4% of its lending, against 4.3% at the typical peer, the highest share in the group.
It lends in 41 states and 175 metros, but California is its base. It ranks 15 of 459 lenders in San Jose, where its share rose to 1.2% from 0.9%, and its share in San Diego rose to 0.7% from 0.3%. In 2025 it entered Lake Havasu City-Kingman, Arizona, and already holds 0.4% there.
All its loans were conventional, with no government-backed or manufactured-home loans. Purchases made up 68.4% and refinances the rest. Its share of loans in majority-minority neighborhoods, 53.1%, was above peers' 47.3%. No figure for lending to low- and moderate-income borrowers can be given for 2025, though it had one the year before; why is an open question.
