Cambria Financial Group, a Minnesota home-purchase lender, grew 28% in 2025, far faster than similar lenders, and nearly half its borrowers have low or moderate incomes.
Its loans rose 28% to 578, while similar lenders (independent non-banks making between half and twice as many loans) grew 2% and the whole market 10%. Only about one in seven peers grew faster. It remains far below 2020, when it made 2,089 loans.
Of its borrowers, 46.0% had low or moderate incomes, against 24.6% at peers, a larger share than at more than nine in ten of them. That share was 33.4% in 2020. Most of its loans are conventional (79.4%), and loans insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) made up 14.7%, fewer than at peers (21.5%), so the tilt toward modest incomes does not come from government lending.
Minneapolis-St. Paul is its biggest market, where it ranks 48 of 688 lenders with 0.5% of lending, up from 0.4%. In Fargo it ranks 18 of 207, with 1.7%. Bell Bank leads both. It has lent in Minnesota since 2013, and 85.5% of its loans financed a purchase.
It turned down 1.9% of first-lien home-purchase applications on owner-occupied homes, against 2.9% at peers. Higher-priced loans, those with a rate well above the average for similar loans, were 0.7% of its lending, against 1.7%.
