Atlantic Coast Mortgage, a bank-owned lender in Fairfax, Virginia, grew its loans by 15% in 2025 while similar lenders shrank, and ranks sixth in the Washington market.
Its loans rose 15%, to 5,729, while similar lenders (non-bank subsidiaries of banks making between an eighth and eight times as many loans) fell by 2%. It has grown every year since 2022, though it remains below its 2020 peak of 9,598. In Washington-Arlington-Alexandria it ranked 6 of 757, behind Rocket Mortgage and United Wholesale Mortgage.
Loans guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) made up 14.9% of its lending, about twice the 7.7% at similar lenders and more than at nine in ten of them. Purchases were 88.5% of its loans. In Virginia Beach-Chesapeake-Norfolk it ranked 18 of 577 with 1.3%.
Low- and moderate-income (LMI) borrowers took 34.7% of its loans, more than at four in five similar lenders, where the share was 29.9%. Majority-minority neighborhoods took 29.9% of its loans, against 19.9% at similar lenders.
It turned down 2.0% of decided home-purchase applications, the lowest among similar lenders, whose typical rate was 4.0%. For refinances it refused 1.8%, against 10.9%. Its typical rate, 6.49%, was in line with theirs.
