Allied Mortgage Group, a Pennsylvania non-bank lender active in 38 states, relies on loans insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) more than most of its rivals.
FHA loans made up 35.5% of its lending, against 22.6% at the typical similar lender (independent non-bank lenders making between half and twice as many loans). That is more than at about four in five of them. Purchases were 65.6% of its loans and refinances the rest.
A quarter of its loans, 25.3%, were in low- and moderate-income (LMI) neighborhoods, against 19.1% for the typical peer and 16.9% for the lender five years before. Its share in majority-minority neighborhoods has nearly doubled over the same period, to 32.5%. Its heavy FHA lending may be part of the reason.
Its loans fell 15% in 2025, to 2,151, while the typical peer grew 9% and the whole market 10%. Only about one in twenty similar lenders shrank more. The fall was not everywhere: its share in Las Vegas-Henderson-North Las Vegas held at 0.3%, so the loss may have come from other markets. In Philadelphia-Camden-Wilmington, its largest market, it ranked 54 of 784 lenders, behind CrossCountry Mortgage, the leader.
