AgCountry Farm Credit Services, FLCA, a Fargo-based non-bank lender to rural home buyers in Minnesota, the Dakotas and Wisconsin, saw its lending fall 43% in 2025, one of the steepest falls among similar lenders.
A rural lender
Its three largest markets are the non-metro parts of Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin; it lends in 50 counties across four states. Every loan in 2025 was conventional, while similar lenders, independent non-bank lenders making between half and twice as many loans, typically had 15.4% FHA loans (insured by the Federal Housing Administration). Purchases were 58.8% of its loans and refinances 35.3%.
A sharp fall
It made 102 loans, down from 178 a year earlier. Similar lenders fell 2% and the whole market grew 10%, so only a few of its peers shrank faster. Its lending has swung before: from 136 loans in 2020 to 192 in 2021 and back to 138 in 2022. The record gives no reason for this year's drop.
A small lender in its home metro
In Fargo, its home metro, it held 0.1% of lending and ranked 76 of 207 lenders; Bell Bank and Gate City Bank lead there. It does better outside the cities, ranking 24 of 191 lenders in non-metro North Dakota. Its shares in smaller metros such as Wausau and Grand Forks rest on too few loans to read much into.
Few costly loans
None of its loans was higher-priced, meaning a rate well above the average for similar loans, against 1.9% at similar lenders.
Similar lenders: same lender type, originations between half and twice the lender's in the data year.
