Access Capital Funding, a small Missouri non-bank lender, grew its loans by 12% in 2025 while similar lenders stood still, and nearly half its business was refinancing.
It made 171 loans in 2025, up from 152. The typical similar lender, an independent non-bank lender making between half and twice as many loans, barely grew, and the whole market grew 10%. The base is low: it made 913 loans in 2020 and 108 in 2023.
Refinances made up 45.6% of its loans and purchases 54.4%. Most were conventional, at 77.8%, close to its peers' 77.1%. None of its loans was higher-priced, meaning a rate well above the average for similar loans, against 1.8% at similar lenders.
It lends in 2 states and 17 counties, with Missouri at its center. In St. Louis it ranked 66 of 637 lenders with 0.3% of the market, the same share as a year earlier. Guild Mortgage Company led that market.
Only 8.2% of its loans were in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods, against 19.2% at similar lenders, and 2.9% in neighborhoods where most residents belong to minority groups, against 23.1%. Both shares are among the lowest tenth of its peers. One possible reason is its narrow footprint: with lending in so few counties, the neighborhoods in those counties set these shares. Its share of loans to low- and moderate-income borrowers, 21.0%, was close to its peers' 20.5%.
