Our analysis, 2025
ABL RPC Residential Credit Acquisition, a Jersey City non-bank that first reported in 2023, lends mostly for home improvement, in 141 metros across 34 states.
Two-thirds of its loans, 67.3%, were for home improvement; 24.0% were refinances and only 7.7% purchases. All were conventional, and none was for a manufactured home.
Its filings give no figure for borrowers' incomes or for higher-priced loans, a pattern that may mean many of its borrowers are companies rather than households. Its typical rate, 10.12%, was higher than at about four in five similar lenders, meaning non-banks making between half and twice as many loans, whose typical rate was 7.38%. Its weight in home-improvement loans, which are often priced above purchase loans, could account for much of that; lending to businesses could too.
Of its loans, 42.3% were in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods, against 24.5% at similar lenders, a higher share than at more than four in five of them. Its share in majority-minority neighborhoods, 44.2%, was a little above its peers' 41.0%.
It first reported in 2023, with 1,021 loans, and now lends in 252 counties. Its loans fell 13% in 2025 to 1,189, while similar lenders grew 16%. A lender this young may still be settling on how much it wants to lend.
Similar lenders: same lender type, originations between half and twice the lender's in the data year. Written from the 2025 HMDA data and checked figure by figure against it.
