United Valley Bank, a small North Dakota bank that lends mainly in Minnesota, is a top-ten mortgage lender in Grand Forks and gained ground there in 2025.
Grand Forks is where it counts. It ranks 7 of 131 lenders there, and its share of the market's lending rose from 2.8% to 3.5%. United Wholesale Mortgage and Gate City Bank lead that market. Elsewhere it is a minor presence, ranking 72 of 207 in Fargo.
It made 90 loans in 2025, up 11%. That is close to the 9% growth of similar lenders (state non-member banks making between half and twice as many loans) and the market's 10%. The bank filed no HMDA reports for 2020 to 2022, so its record has a gap; since it resumed in 2023 its loans have risen each year, from 67.
Every loan was conventional, with no government-backed lending, as is usual among its peers. Just over half were for buying a home and 16.7% for home improvement. Its typical loan, $195,000, was somewhat larger than peers' $175,000 and up from $145,000 a year earlier.
