Our analysis, 2025
United Credit Union, a refinance lender in central Missouri, more than doubled its loans in 2025, recovering much of the ground it lost in 2023 and 2024.
It made 65 loans, up 132% from 28 in 2024, faster growth than at almost all similar lenders, credit unions making between half and twice as many loans. Those peers grew 7%. The jump restores only part of its earlier volume: it made 98 loans five years before and 101 in 2021.
Refinances made up 72.3% of its loans and purchases 27.7%. All were conventional. Its typical loan rose to $75,000 from $55,000 but stayed below the $95,000 at similar lenders. Its typical rate, 6.62%, was near its peers' 6.75%.
Low- and moderate-income borrowers took 38.7% of its loans, against 30.9% at similar lenders, more than at nearly three-quarters of them. Yet only 4.8% of its loans were in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods, against 17.4% at peers, and none in majority-minority ones. Its largest market is non-metro Missouri, and the areas it serves may simply contain few such neighborhoods.
