Our analysis, 2025
Titan Federal Credit Union, a small Pennsylvania credit union, lends only to people who already own their homes, and in small amounts.
Its 2025 loans split almost evenly: refinancing 35.5%, other purposes 33.9% and home improvement 30.6%. It made no purchase loans. Every loan was conventional.
The typical loan was $55,000, against $95,000 at similar lenders (credit unions making between half and twice as many loans), smaller than all but a few of them. Its typical rate, 5.75%, was below the 6.75% of similar lenders and lower than more than nine in ten of them.
It made 62 loans, against 64 the year before, a fall of 3% while similar lenders grew 7%. A fall that small says little. Over a longer run volume has edged up, from 47 in 2018. It filed no report for 2020 to 2022, so those years are a gap in the record.
State College is its main market, where it has lent since 2010. It ranked 30 of 192 lenders, with a share of 0.4% against 0.5% the year before, a dip that a loan or two could explain. PNC Bank led the market. In 2025 it began lending in Erie.
Similar lenders: same lender type, originations between half and twice the lender's in the data year. Written from the 2025 HMDA data and checked figure by figure against it.
FIG. 1 — LOANS ORIGINATED, 2018–2025
Originated means the loan was made: applications denied, withdrawn or not accepted are not counted. Years with no HMDA report from this lender are left out: since 2020 a bank making fewer than 100 closed-end loans a year need not report. Titan Federal Credit Union took 63 applications in 2025.
