Lending where incomes are lower
41.9% of its 2025 loans went to low- and moderate-income (LMI) neighborhoods, against 18.6% at similar lenders (state non-member banks making between half and twice as many loans). That is higher than nine in ten of them. The share was 46.3% the year before, so this is no one-year blip. Its share of loans to LMI borrowers themselves, 14.6%, was lower than at about four in five similar lenders; borrowers in the places it serves may earn more than their neighborhoods suggest.
