Sun Community Federal Credit Union is one of the larger lenders in its home market of El Centro, California, and in 2025 it grew its loans by half and gained share there.
Its share of lending in El Centro rose from 3.3% to 4.5%, ranking it 6 of 171 lenders. United Wholesale Mortgage leads that market. It has lent there since 2004. Its loans rose 50%, from 60 to 90, against 7% for similar lenders (credit unions making between half and twice as many loans) and 10% for the whole market.
It filed no HMDA report from 2020 to 2023. Those are missing years, not years without lending. Its 90 loans in 2025 compare with 43 in 2019, the last year before the gap.
