Our analysis, 2025
Sentry Bank, a Minnesota bank, more than doubled its share of the St. Cloud market in 2025 and now ranks ninth there.
Its share of St. Cloud, its largest market, rose from 1.2% to 2.9%, putting it 9 of 243 lenders. CBRE Multifamily Capital and Magnifi Financial Credit Union lead. It has lent there since at least 1990.
Loans rose 60%, to 96, faster than more than nine in ten similar lenders, state non-member banks making between half and twice as many loans. The typical peer grew by 9%. The rise follows four years of decline, from 214 loans in 2020 to 60 in 2024, so the bank is still well below its earlier level.
Its typical loan was $275,000, against $175,000 at similar banks, larger than at more than four in five of them. Purchases made up 69.8% of its lending, and every loan was conventional, without government backing.
Its lending to low- and moderate-income borrowers, 26.4%, and to poorer neighborhoods, 18.8%, sat near the middle of its peers. Few of its loans, 2.1%, went to majority-minority neighborhoods, against 6.2% at peers; its focus on St. Cloud and rural Minnesota may account for that.
Similar lenders: same lender type, originations between half and twice the lender's in the data year. Written from the 2025 HMDA data and checked figure by figure against it.
