Roxboro Savings Bank grew its lending by 22% in 2025, and more of its loans go to poorer neighborhoods and to manufactured homes than at nine in ten similar lenders.
Its loans rose 22%, to 110, faster than about three-quarters of similar lenders, savings institutions making between half and twice as many loans. Their typical growth was 7%, and the whole market grew 10%. Its volume is still below the 189 loans of 2020.
Loans in low- and moderate-income (LMI) neighborhoods made up 34.5% of its lending, about double the 17.0% at similar lenders and higher than at nine in ten. Loans in majority-minority neighborhoods were 14.5%, against 5.6% at its peers. The bank has long lent in such places: five years before, 49.7% of its loans went to LMI neighborhoods.
Manufactured homes account for 14.5% of its loans, a higher share than at nearly all of its peers; the typical similar lender makes none. In other ways the bank is ordinary. Purchases are 62.7% of its loans and refinancing 27.3%, and its typical loan of $250,000 is close to its peers' $245,000.
Durham-Chapel Hill is its largest market, and it has lent there since 2004. Its other markets are non-metro North Carolina and Burlington, so all its lending stays in the one state.
