Our analysis, 2025
MyGeorgia Credit Union is a home-improvement lender, and a fast-growing one: it made 87 loans in 2025, more than five times its 16 in 2024.
Its loans rose 444%, against 7% at similar lenders, credit unions making between half and twice as many loans. Almost none of them grew faster. Its previous high since 2018 was 51 loans, in 2021.
Home-improvement loans were 60.9% of its total and other purposes 27.6%; home purchases were only 3.4%. These tend to be small loans, which may be why its typical loan was $65,000, against $95,000 at similar lenders.
Its typical rate was 7.50%, higher than at about four in five similar lenders, whose typical rate was 6.75%. Home-improvement and other-purpose loans may carry higher rates than first mortgages, which could account for the difference. Its share of higher-priced loans, those with a rate well above the average for similar loans, was 3.5%, the same as its peers'.
In Gainesville, its largest market, its share rose from 0.1% to 0.2%, placing it 105 of 336 lenders. It has lent there since 2010.
