Rooted in poorer neighborhoods
Low- and moderate-income (LMI) neighborhoods took 57.9% of its 39 loans, against 17.2% at similar lenders (national banks making between half and twice as many loans). That is higher than more than nine in ten of them. Majority-minority neighborhoods took 38.5%, against 8.6% at peers. A handful of loans can move these shares, but the LMI share has risen from 33.9% in 2020.
