Bigger loans, not more of them
The Wisconsin savings institution made 180 loans, up from 172. Growth of 5% put it near the middle of similar lenders (savings institutions making between half and twice as many loans), which typically grew 7%. The extra dollars came from size: its typical loan rose from $120,000 to $175,000. That is still below the $230,000 typical of similar lenders. The bank is much smaller than in 2021, when it made 790 loans.
