Peoples Community Bank, a Missouri bank, makes small loans, many on manufactured homes, and lends more in poorer neighborhoods than most banks its size.
Its typical loan is $95,000, among the lowest tenth of similar lenders (state non-member banks making between half and twice as many loans), whose typical loan is $175,000. Manufactured homes make up 13.8% of its loans, against 2.6% at similar lenders, and home improvement 13.0%. That mix may explain the small loans.
