A government-backed lender
FHA loans (insured by the Federal Housing Administration) were 17.7% of its lending, VA loans (guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs) 9.2% and RHS loans (guaranteed by the Department of Agriculture's Rural Housing Service) 3.2%. The typical similar lender (state member banks making between half and twice as many loans) made none of these. Its share of such loans was higher than at almost all of them.
