Government loans where peers make none
Loans insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) made up 8.2% of its lending. Another 1.3% were guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and 1.3% by the Department of Agriculture's Rural Housing Service (RHS). The typical similar lender, a state member bank making between half and twice as many loans, made none of any. Purchases were 61.8% of its loans.
