NexTier Bank made 64% more loans in 2025, faster than nearly all similar national banks, a year after merging with Mars Bank.
It made 329 loans, while similar lenders (national banks making between half and twice as many loans) grew 5%. Its dollar lending more than doubled, to $161.6 million from $69.3 million. The merger with Mars Bank in 2024 is one possible source. The count is still below the 481 it made five years before.
Manufactured homes were 11.6% of its loans, against 1.2% at similar lenders, higher than at about nine in ten. Yet none of its loans was higher-priced (a rate well above the average for similar loans), against 2.1% at peers.
Its share of Buffalo-Cheektowaga rose to 1.2% from 0.1%, ranking 17 of 267. In Pittsburgh, where it has lent since at least 1990, it rose to 0.4% from 0.3%.
In Ithaca its share fell 1.2 points to 3.5%, though it still ranks 9 of 102; Tompkins Bank & Trust leads there. One possibility is that its growth went mainly to Buffalo and Pittsburgh.
