Horicon Bank, a Wisconsin lender for home buyers, is gaining ground in Fond du Lac, where it now ranks 9 of 199, while slipping in Oshkosh-Neenah.
Its share of Fond du Lac lending rose to 3.2% from 2.7%. National Exchange Bank and Trust leads there. In Oshkosh-Neenah its share fell to 0.8% from 1.1%, and it ranks 33 of 231. A rival's expansion or a year with fewer large loans could account for the dip.
It made 424 loans, up 8% from 393. Similar lenders (state non-member banks making between half and twice as many loans) grew by 9%, the whole market by 10%. Its volume remains far below the 1,238 loans of 2020; the public data does not say what drove that peak. Since its 2023 merger with Cornerstone Community Bank, that bank's lending counts as Horicon's in the market figures.
Low- and moderate-income (LMI) borrowers took 31.0% of its loans, more than at about two-thirds of similar lenders. Only 10.2% of its loans were in LMI neighborhoods, fewer than at about four in five peers, though that is up from 1.9% in 2020. The Wisconsin markets it serves may simply contain few such neighborhoods.
