Our analysis, 2025
Guardian Bank ranks third among mortgage lenders in Valdosta, and its share of that market grew in 2025 even though it made slightly fewer loans.
In Valdosta, GA, its biggest market, it ranks 3 of 238 lenders. Its share rose 1.2 points, from 3.9% to 5.1%. Only Ameris Bank and Mortgage Research Center lent more. It has reported loans there since 2004.
Refinances made up 74.3% of its loans. Manufactured homes took 12.5%, against 2.8% at similar lenders (state non-member banks making between half and twice as many loans). Its typical loan was $100,000, against $175,000, lower than at about nine in ten of them.
It made 152 loans, 4% fewer than in 2024, while similar lenders grew 10%. Yet the dollars it lent rose to $50.6 million from $35.6 million, more than at about seven in ten similar lenders. With so small a typical loan, a few large loans may account for the rise.
