A lender to homeowners
Purchases were only 16.7% of its loans. The rest went on refinancing, home improvement and other purposes, and 16.1% were on manufactured homes, where similar lenders (credit unions making between half and twice as many loans) typically made none. That mix keeps its loans small: the typical one was $85,000, against $105,000 at peers.
