Our analysis, 2025
Freedom Bank of Southern Missouri has about doubled its lending in five years, to 283 loans in 2025, and an unusual number of them are on manufactured homes.
It made 138 loans five years earlier and kept most of the gains of 2021 and 2022. Its 6% rise in 2025 was close to the 9% at similar lenders, state non-member banks making between half and twice as many loans.
Manufactured homes made up 11.3% of its loans, against 2.5% at similar lenders, more than at about four in five of them. Its typical loan was $135,000, against $175,000. Manufactured-home lending and its non-metro markets are possible reasons for the smaller loans.
Low- and moderate-income (LMI) borrowers took 33.5% of its loans, more than at about seven in ten similar lenders. Its share in LMI neighborhoods, 13.1%, was lower than peers' 17.1%, and in majority-minority neighborhoods it was 0.4%, against 6.6%. A footprint centered on non-metro Missouri, where such neighborhoods may be few, could explain both.
Its share of the Springfield, MO market rose to 0.9% from 0.6%, a rank of 30 of 351. In Joplin, KS-MO it slipped to 0.7% from 0.8%, a change a few loans either way could explain. Flat Branch Mortgage leads both.
