It made 376 loans, up from 115, while similar lenders (credit unions making between half and twice as many loans) grew 6%; its growth was higher than at nearly all of them. Its record swings: 445 loans in 2022, then 123 and 115. Its dollar total rose to $67.1 million from $30.3 million. The figures do not say which products or counties drove the jump.
Home improvement made up 37.8% of its loans and other purposes 27.7%; purchases took 25.3%. Its typical loan fell to $135,000 from $215,000, which fits growth in smaller loans of these kinds. FHA loans (insured by the Federal Housing Administration) fell to 3.7% from 18.3%.
Low- and moderate-income (LMI) neighborhoods took 8.0% of its loans, against 15.5% at similar lenders, among the lowest twentieth. LMI borrowers took 17.9%, against 27.5%. Its lean toward home-improvement and other-purpose loans, which go to people who already own homes, and the incomes in the areas it serves could account for this.
In Memphis, AR-MS-TN, where it has lent since at least 1990, its share rose. In Jackson, TN it ranked 33 of 248, with 0.5%, up from 0.4%.
