Everett Co-Operative Bank makes big loans, and lends far more in low- and moderate-income and majority-minority neighborhoods than almost any similar lender.
Its typical loan was $525,000, larger than at more than nine in ten similar lenders (savings institutions making between half and twice as many loans), where it was $232,500. Jumbo loans (larger than the conforming limit) were 21.1% of its lending, against 2.6%. It lent $281.6 million in 2025, up from $162.3 million.
Low- and moderate-income (LMI) neighborhoods took 40.9% of its loans, against 15.5% at similar lenders. Majority-minority neighborhoods took 35.5%, against 4.6%. On both counts its share was higher than at almost all of them.
LMI borrowers, by contrast, took 17.5% of its loans, against 24.5% at similar lenders, lower than at about four in five of them. Its big loans may suit higher-income buyers, even in LMI neighborhoods, which could explain the gap.
It made 200 loans, 10% more than in 2024. That put its growth near the middle of similar lenders and level with the whole market. Its largest market is Boston-Cambridge-Newton, where it ranked 43 of 664 lenders. Home purchases were 43.0% of its loans and refinances 33.5%.
