ConnectOne Bank, a New Jersey bank, makes bigger home loans than any lender its size: its typical loan was $1.2 million, against $175,000 at similar lenders.
Its typical loan rose from $655,000 in 2024 to $1.2 million, the largest among similar lenders (state non-member banks making between half and twice as many loans). Jumbo loans (larger than the conforming limit) made up 19.7% of its lending, against 1.5% at its peers. Its $388.2 million in loans was also the most of any of them.
It made 123 loans, up 89% from 65, against 9% at similar lenders and 10% for the whole market; it grew faster than nearly all of its peers. It made 422 loans in 2021 and only 53 in 2023. Its merger with The First National Bank of Long Island in 2025 may have added to its lending.
Low- and moderate-income (LMI) neighborhoods took 30.3% of its loans, against 17.6% at similar lenders, more than at about four in five of them. Its largest market remains New York-Newark-Jersey City, NY-NJ, where it ranked 105 of 802 lenders; JPMorgan Chase Bank led. In 2025 it took 0.6% of lending in Atlantic City-Hammonton, NJ, and 0.2% in Port St. Lucie, FL. It also made its first loans in Cape Coral-Fort Myers, FL, and Jacksonville, FL.
