Christian Community Credit Union made 38% more loans in 2025, the year it merged with Evangelical Christian C.U., and most of them went to majority-minority neighborhoods.
It made 143 loans, up from 104. Similar lenders, credit unions making between half and twice as many loans, grew 9%, and the whole market 10%. The merger may account for some of the rise. Even so, its count was about a third of the 419 it made in 2021.
Refinances made up 63.6% of its loans, home purchases 23.1% and home improvement 13.3%. All were conventional. Its typical loan was $135,000, against $105,000 at its peers, larger than about three in four of them.
Majority-minority neighborhoods took 65.9% of its loans, against 9.8% at peers, a higher share than at more than nine in ten of them. Borrowers with low and moderate incomes (LMI borrowers) took 11.4%, against 28.9%, which puts it among the lowest twentieth. Its larger loans and the incomes of the members it serves are possible reasons. Loans in poorer neighborhoods (low- and moderate-income tracts) were 9.1%.
